Ashtanga Vinyasa Beginner
6 Week Workshop
This introductory 18 hour workshop enables students to practice the primary series of Ashtanga yoga safely and confidently whether in a large class room or privately at home. Each week the class will learn the next series of postures as well as review the principles taught from the previous week to further integrate the methodology of learning each posture in the correct order with the appropriate breath. This workshop also includes opening and closing chants, breathing techniques, and philosophy related to the Ashtanga vinyasa tradition.
- 1st week: Introduction to the breath and bandhas. Break down of the sun salutations. Opening and closing chants.
- 2nd week: Standing postures. Using the gaze and locks to maintain balance.
- 3rd week: Seated postures. Learning the techniques of a vinyasa for smooth transitions and jump throughs.
- 4th week: Backbends and inversions. Focusing intention on the strength of the legs and the lift of energy upward from the ground.
- 5th week: Modifications and review.
- 6th week: Quiz - just kidding.
$175 for the 18 hour course. Scholarship or work exchange available.

Precaution: The Ashtanga method is a physically challenging practice. Even though this workshop is intended for beginners and those with no experience in yoga, please contact me to discuss any injuries or illness that may limit your participation.
