Sambucus Nigra

Elderberry has often been referred to as the “medicine chest of the common people.” A Folk Medicine used for centuries around the world for its antioxidant activity and boost to the immune system. Elderberries grow on a large shrub or small tree that bears clusters of small white flowers in spring.

Elderberries are a natural remedy with antiviral properties and is especially effective against 10 different strains of the flu virus. Sambucus Nigra significantly reduced the duration of flu symptoms by 3-4 days and minimize the need for continued medication.

German studies show that Elderberry enhances immune function by boosting the production of cytokines. These cytokines are unique proteins that act as messengers in the immune system to help regulate immune response, thus helping to defend the body against disease. The elderberry extract therefore offers a safe and effective treatment for the flu.

My favorite Elderberry syrup formula is organic elderberries, fresh ginger root and oranges, Ceylon cinnamon, dried echinacea, and raw local wildflower honey. Rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, elderberry is used to lower cholesterol, improve vision and heart health, alleviate constipation, treat colds and flus, and remove deep congestion in the lungs. This tincture is a delicious addition to any medicine cabinet. Be well.
